Intramural Sports at Foote!

As fall sports are coming to an end students and coaches are left without any sports as we transition into  the winter season. Foote school wants to make intramural sports available to all 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders after school from 3:15 until 4:45. The dates that we will be hosting the sports will be November 11th-13th and November 18th-20th. The sports we will be playing may include basketball, flag football, soccer, kickball, and any other activities that are brought up by you, the students. To inquire more information about the after school program feel free to e-mail me at eeinbinder@footeschool.org and to sign up see Eric Einbinder.

Check out our second video of some great pictures taken during physical education over the past few weeks.

Boys Varsity Soccer

This past Saturday our boys played in the 40th annual New England Private School Soccer Tournament at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield Massachusetts. We played some very tough competition from around the region but responded very well as we made it to the championship game against Indian Mountain School. In a tough game that went to the wire Foote school lost by the score of 2-1. The team showed a lot of fight and never quit until the final whistle, a quality that goes much further then any sports game that our students play. The end result was a second place finish, something to be very proud of Congratulations boys!

The Halloween Spirit

Yesterday and today class had a spooky feel to it as our students went "Trick-or-treating" throughout the gym. The problem was they had to get by the ghosts that were guarding the houses in order to bring all of the candy back to their house. Our students did a great job both protecting houses and bringing candy back home, I hope this helped our students get in the Halloween spirit. Everyone have a safe and scary Halloween!

Health and Wellness: Drugs and Peer Pressure

This week we discussed the different classifications of drugs and went into how they are classified and the effects on your body. We also discussed peer pressure and how it is related to drugs and alcohol at such a young age. When dealing with peer pressure it is important to say "NO" regardless of who it is to. We discussed the difficulty of saying "No" to someone who you care about and are friends with but sometimes it has to be done.

Health Notes: Eating Healthy, My Plate, Physical Activity, Goal Setting

Click On The Picture Above To See The Slides

This weeks health lesson has some great and relevant information for all of our students to eat healthy, and exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We discussed what a calorie is and how they add up to make a person gain weight. We also talked about some plans or goals our students can set and try to create a plan to stick with these goals. One of my favorite quotes is " A goal without a plan is just a dream." I tried telling our students this so that they know what they have to do to set a goal whether it be better grades or playing a sport.

Chinese Culture to Foote Physical Education

With our great program with Yali in China, Foote school has received a wonderful teacher, Hannah, who has demonstrated some things taught in China. To our older kids Hannah is teaching our students how to do stretches and exercises done at Yali. There students perform these daily and do it all in unison, as you can see in the video above they are very difficult and our students can definitely use some work. Hannah also teaches our younger students different routine dances that resemble animals. In the pictures below you can see them doing the rooster, the cat, and the seagull. We are very lucky to have Hannah teaching us a different perspective on how they move and stay fit in other countries.
