Eighth Grade Outdoor Education

Our eighth graders get the great opportunity of participating in our outdoor education program throughout the semester. This is different than our normal physical education program because our main focus is to build team work and have different leaders emerge throughout the course. A challenge is given daily and we do not move on to another challenge until that one is complete. At times groups may become frustrated with each other as well as the task, rather then quitting they work through the hard times and complete the task. The picture above is our students are participating in the task known as "toxic waste", the goal is to move the foam piece from one box to another without dropping it. The task takes concentration, communication and a slow steady pace. The picture below is our students participating in crates and boards, this activity involves lots of strategy to get from one side to the other without touching the ground and without dropping any boards. If any of the boards touch the ground they can no longer be used. Stay tuned throughout the semester as we work our way up to the high ropes elements including the "Duo Dangle."
